Flogger Care

I have read and viewed much information on flogger care. I recommend that you hang your floggers in a cool dry place whenever they are not in use. Make sure they have plenty of fresh air. If you are very concerned about tranasmitting disease, leave them out in the sun for a few days. Hepatitis can live on surfaces up to a few weeks while HIV can last up to about a week. Both are blood borne pathogens that are unlikely to be spread by floggers or clothing. Chemicals, in general, will shorten the lives of your floggers and dragon tails. If you need to clean the handle or falls I recommend using a damp cloth and saddle soap (on leather NOT suede) on each individual fall before wiping them using another clean damp cloth. It is best to do this in groups of about a dozen - you don't want the soap to dry on the leather. When the falls are completely dry use a soft vegetable cleaning type brush on the flesh side (feels more like suede) and bring back a bit of the nap that way. Finish conditioning with something like Fiebing's Care4 Conditioner to restore some oils and waxes necessary for strengthening the leather fibers. If you are concerned about blood or other bodily fluids being transmitted, please consider the practice of using a toy on just one person. If you need more toys just reach out to me. I'll be happy to make more.
